For starters, organic produce contains fewer pesticides, is often more fresh, it is much better for the environment, and organically raised animals are not given antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic foods are also GMO free. GMO stands for genetically modified organisms, meaning that plant or animal DNA has been altered in certain ways that cannot occur in nature.



Are organic foods healthier?

Organic foods usually don’t contain harmful fertilizers, herbicides and long lasting insecticides. Organic doesn’t necessarily mean healthier, it’s just safer to eat.


How do you know if something is organic?

Usually there is an organic logo on the products. Companies, farmers, supplies, etc. can put a logo on their products.


Why do organic foods cost more?

The food production involves the use of organic fertilizers, which are more expensive to use than chemical fertilizers.
