Make the Most of Your Break!

Didn’t get to book a destination spring break trip? Are you spending your spring break at home, wishing you had something to do? Here are a few ideas to make the most of your week of freedom on a budget!

Go on a Staycation

Just because you didn’t make it to the sandy shores and crystal clear water of the Caribbean doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a relaxing vacation! Try creating an epic blanket fort or camping in for a night or two with some friends. Include some microwave s’mores and candlelight and it’ll be like you’re in the great outdoors, but without those pesky mosquitos and bugs. Not digging the fort idea? Try hosting an indoor picnic or movie night for your friends!

Get Out and Get Active (with a Friend!)

Just because March weather is miserable doesn’t mean you can’t still get outside! Since the dorms are closed for spring break, and you may be home with your pets, take the opportunity to exercise with your furry friends. Go to the PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources’ website to find a state park near you. Most of them offer activities such as hiking, biking, and boating among others, though some activities may be limited during March overall. Want to get out but not a fan of the outdoors? Be a local tourist and see all the hometown attractions you’ve been meaning to get to over the years but never did!

Bring the Spa to You

Want a more luxurious spring break vacation? Try creating an at-home spa experience with these do it yourself spa recipes from Real Simple magazine! Most of these recipes can be made with things you already have in your kitchen or around the house and don’t have the harmful chemicals most beauty treatments at the drugstore do.
Don’t let your lack of plans spoil your fun. If you’re looking for something to do local to West Chester, you can always check out the borough’s calendar of events. Have a fun and safe spring break from everyone at the Office of Wellness Education!
